BSEE Degree Plan Changes

Effective Fall 2009, and pending final approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, there will be substantial changes in the Electrical Engineering degree plan which will reduce the total number of hours required for the degree from 140 credit hours to 125 credit hours. The following courses will be deleted as requirements:
  • UNIV 1301 Learning Frameworks (for qualified students- see below)
  • Kinesiology
  • Foreign Language (for qualified students - see below)
The following courses will be changed:
  • ELEE 4461 Senior Design I will change to ELEE 4361 Senior Design I
  • ELEE 4462 Senior Design II will change to ELEE 4362 Senior Design II
Two 4-hour required courses (CHEM 1301/1101 and MECE 2405) will be changed into a choice of one three hour course:
  • CHEM 1301 General Chemistry I or
  • MECE 2305 Engineering Mechanics
Although UNIV 1301 is being removed as a degree requirement, students who do not meet certain mininum entrance requirements may still be required to take UNIV 1301 by the University. Students will also be required to demonstrate foreign language proficiency (either through high school study, examination, or previous college credit). Those without proficiency will be required to take a foreign language course.
